Looks like we’re doing North Korea comics again. There was once a time when it felt like every second strip Robert and I wrote was about North Korea; given recent events, I’d say we’ve been very restrained lately.
Annotation by Robert:
There may be an award-winning series less senselessly reactionary than Black Mirror, but Martin and I are yet to hear of it. There’s a line between “technology has implications for misuse” and “EVERYTHING AFTER THE EIGHT-TRACK WAS A MISTAKE”, and Black Mirror generally speeds across the latter with both middle fingers in the air. There was one episode with two women who fell in love over an MMO, which was nice, but it seems like a very rare exception. I’m generally not interested in anything even vaguely dark, but Martin loves horror and enjoys sad things, and even he thinks that – and I quote him directly – “Black Mirror is a heaping pile.”
